SIA Yorker Brain Awareness Medical Science Scholarship
Sia was entering her 3rd year of college in pursuit of fulfilling her dream of becoming a pediatric physician.
In the effort to keep Sia's dream alive, on December of 2011 the Sia Brain Awareness Scholarship Foundation, a 501c3 tax-exempt organization, was founded.
One of the goals of Sia Brain Awareness Scholarship Foundation is to award scholarships to deserving Central Florida graduating high school seniors who will be full-time students in an accredited Florida College or University pursuing Medical/Science Degree. During 2012-2019, the foundation awarded scholarships to 43 students ranging from $500.00-$1500.00 during the Sia Yorker Medical Science Scholarship Banquet held annually in March.
A 5K Brain Awareness Walk A Thon fundraising event is held yearly in October at the Dewey Boster Park in Deltona to raise funds for the scholarship program.
Our mission is to educate the community by bringing awareness of signs and symptoms of Acute Brain Hemorrhages, Brain Tumors, Aneurisms, Strokes, Concussions, Seizures, Alzheimer's, Dementia, Lewy Body Syndrom, Parkinson's Disease, the Choking Game, and other Adverse Brain Conditions.
In addition, we want to encourage people to be proactive in taking preventive measures in avoiding head injuries.
